The Authority
Regional vs. Pescador:
Know Your Order.
Every poncha starts with the same holy trinity: aguardente de cana, honey, and citrus. The difference is in the fruit.
Poncha Regional uses fresh lemon juice — sharp, fiery, and traditional. The Poncha de Pescador swaps lemon for orange, creating a smoother, sweeter pour that fishermen from Câmara de Lobos made famous. Then there's Poncha de Tangerina, the island's best-kept secret.
Aguardente de Cana
Sugar cane spirit distilled on the island — the soul of every poncha.
Mel de Abelha
Local Madeiran honey that balances the fire with golden sweetness.
Sumo de Limão / Laranja
Fresh-squeezed citrus — lemon for Regional, orange for Pescador.
The Caralhinho
The iconic wooden muddler used to mix poncha — its name is as unforgettable as the drink.
